This Information Technology Specialist position provides essential IT tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the USAO IT systems.If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located inBrooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of Information Technology support to include personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, transmission media, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations.Typical work assignments will include:
Maintains network architecture and infrastructure. Configures and maintains servers, hubs, routers, and switches. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Develops, designs, tests and implements internet, intranet and extranet activities including technical management of websites. Coordinates litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs. Provides customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and training in response to user requirements. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). MINIMUM

In order to qualify for the IT Specialist position, you must meet the following basic requirement:
You must have information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. AND4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Experience:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates experience in:
1) Assisting with configuring and/or installing IT network systems to include hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers and hardware; 2) Resolving IT systems, software and hardware issues; 3) Performing IT systems security testing to ensure firewalls and intrusion software are properly working; 4) Developing basic scripts or code applying knowledge of programming languages and tools; and 5) Providing litigation support through the use of information technology to develop data and graphic representations of evidence in a courtroom setting. OR Education:
You must possess a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology business management or other degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. Experience:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates experience in:
1) Configuring and/or installing IT network systems to include hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers and hardware; 2) Resolving IT systems, software and hardware issues; 3) Providing IT customer training including orientation for new users 4) Troubleshooting and resolving problems with delivery of intranet services; and 5) Developing standards and procedures for applications used in litigation preparations and presentations. OR Education:
You must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology business management or other degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
