Budget Technician

This Budget Technician position provides conventional practices to treat a variety of problems in budget or financial management transactions. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Budget Technician support in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located inBrooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of budget and financial management activities. Typical work assignments will include:
Performs analysis of financial data to determine trends in obligations and expenditures. Establishes and maintains control over funding allocations. Collects, compiles and consolidates data to support budget activities. MINIMUM
Qualifications:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
GS-07:
One (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service performing the following:
(1) assisting in developing budget activities and estimates; (2) reconciling and adjusting accounts to reflect outstanding balances; (3) performing finance and budget analysis using financial management systems; (4) preparing recurring reports on costs in summary and detail forms. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
