Executive Director The Educational Director is a key member of the administrative team that works together to support the mission and values of Aozora Community.
The Education Director's role is to inspire, motivate and lead all staff by demonstrating the standard of excellence through their example.
The Education Director is responsible for and committed to, sustaining a high-quality child care program that emphasizes good partnerships between families and staff.
The Education Director creates an open and honest working environment that inspires professionalism and rewards creative, innovative teaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Staff Development and Education:
Communicate and exemplify the vision and Educational Philosophy of Aozora Community Encourage, train and mentor all classroom teachers to consistently perform at a high professional level Assist the professional growth of all preschool classroom teachers by setting individual goals every year and providing reviews and feedback throughout the year Train all teachers to meet or exceed minimum NYC DOHMH licensing standards Administer program policies and procedures as required by the school and the NYC DOHMH Conduct performance reviews for all preschool classroom teachers at least annually Maintain professional development records for all teachers Keep staff apprised of professional development opportunities, revisions of policy and/or procedures through written or electronic communications 2.
Classroom Program and Environment:
Oversee all aspects of classroom program planning and implementation within the guidelines of Aozora Community's Educational Philosophy and developmentally appropriate practices Provide expert advice on preschool programming and make decisions for curriculums and program contents Give guidance to the Class Lead Teachers for developing curriculum and curriculum materials that are developmentally appropriate, and help to provide any useful resources for curriculum planning Conduct routine visits to all classrooms, and ensure that staff maintain clean, sanitary, and organized classroom areas, and equipment and that classrooms are arranged for optimum efficiency/usage Introduce and support new ideas, strategies, etc.
through spending time in classrooms as needed Supervise record-keeping activities of preschool classroom staff and any other information required by NYC DOHMH Actively participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to address programming, health and safety, facilities, operations, human resources or any other concerns.
Consult frequently with the Executive Director and take proactive measures to address concerns as they arise Conduct an evacuation drill once a month and a shelter-in drill twice a year 3.
Recruitment and Staffing:
Work in coordination with the Executive Director, recruit and interview prospective employees Provide new-hire orientation for new staff members Ensuring efficient scheduling to maintain required staff/child ratios Approve teaching staff time sheets semi-monthly Coordinate and approve teaching staff time off requests 4.
Family Partnerships:
Work to build positive relationships with parents and families Communicate promptly and appropriately to parent concerns, involving teachers, administrators, families or external support personnel as needed Perform on-going developmental evaluations of children with the Class Lead Teachers, and communicate the process and outcome to the parents Work to increase and maintain enrollment Ensure that teachers handle discipline promptly as outlined in the preschool handbook and communicate with parents on each child's progress and discipline Monitor and maintain confidentiality rules and regulations Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$70,000.
