Immigrant Workers Specialist 2 - Brooklyn

STANDARD DUTIES:
As an Immigrant Workers Specialist 2 in DIPA you would serve as a liaison for the Department of Labor, agricultural employers, immigrant workers and advocacy groups. The incumbent will:
o Responds to concerns raised by community organizations working directly with trafficking victims. o Coordinates with Department programs investigating Labor Law violations related to immigrant workers. o Analyzes reports, census data, and other statistical data regarding immigrant population trends, issues, and concerns. o In collaboration with Office of Special Investigations, may work on potential criminal cases with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. o Responds to constituent calls and correspondence and prepares letters and reports regarding immigration and human trafficking issues. o Oversees community outreach and rural programs and services for a geographic area. o Develops and implements information awareness campaigns targeted at existing and emerging immigrant populations. o Supervises flow of materials related to approval of H?2A applications in DOL's Foreign o Labor Certification Unit, including but not limited to clearing and posting of job orders. o Reviews H?2A job orders submitted by agricultural employers and agents/lawyers for compliance with State and federal regulations. o Works with employers and their agents and DOL field staff to resolve issues with H-2A job orders. o Reviews and stays informed of any changes to regulations and guidance issued by U.S. DOL and other federal authorities or agencies. o Drafts correspondence to employers regarding H?2A program and applications. o Supervises inspections of farm worker housing to determine compliance with U.S. DOL and other applicable regulations. o Supervises investigations of complaints filed by immigrant workers against employers suspected of violating the State's labor laws. o Participates in meetings and community events to give and obtain information relating to immigrant workers' issues and concerns. o Supervises and trains Immigrant Workers Specialists 1.

Salary Range:
From $79325 to $100342 Annually
Minimum Qualification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree or higher and four years of experience providing assistance, direction or support to improve, protect, and preserve the rights of workers and/or immigrants, or assisting clients in understanding and participating in public or private programs. The experience must include some involvement in public education, communications, or community outreach activities. A masters' degree may substitute for two years of the experience. Preferred
Qualifications:
o Spanish language proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing. o Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
