About You State Senator Zellnor Myrie's Office seeks a dynamic, dedicated, and public service-oriented individual to join the staff. The Community Advocate & Press Coordinator role is for someone passionate about public service, first and foremost with experience in writing, digital & social media, public relations. Qualified candidates for the position will have familiarity with Central Brooklyn and the surrounding neighborhoods and the concerns and challenges facing its residents. The ideal candidate will also be politically aware and excited about advancing equity and justice as we strive to serve the District's diverse and vibrant communities and residents. About Your Role The Community Advocate & Press Coordinator will provide constituent services, help plan events, build relationships with community stakeholders and assist the Communication & Policy Director with digital & social media, press releases, and other press or communications duties. Your Responsibilities The Community Advocate role is integral to fulfilling the core duties of serving constituents across the diverse communities of Senate District 20. 80% of day-to-day work will be constituent services and 20% communication duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
oProviding resources and services provided to the general public; oTracking constituent data and sharing trends and patterns with supervisor(s) to shift approach and prioritize the appropriate issues; oHelping to plan and execute all public-facing community events and other means of engagement; oEstablishing and maintaining relationships with direct service providers, advocacy organizations, city and state agencies, and any other offices that could aid in the work; oWorking with colleagues to identify best practices and implement strategies to maintain efficient and effective constituent services and community engagement; oUsing data to identify trends in constituent service requests and working collaboratively to provide solutions (whether via direct services, legislation, etc.); oMaintaining spreadsheets and using software to track data and constituent requests; oSupporting the Communication team with public-facing communications on behalf of the Senator, including but not limited to drafting quotes, press releases, emails and social media posts.

Salary Range:
From $43000 to $50000 Annually
Minimum Qualification
oTwo years of Microsoft Office Suite experience oTwo years of creating social media content experienceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
